Prepare the Installation Package for Installation

The CA RCM software is available as downloadable, zipped installation package. After you download the installation package, you must prepare the installation files before you can install. Use this procedure to create the installation files from the installation package.

To prepare the installation package for installation

1. Create a temporary directory in a location that is accessible from the target computer.
2. Download the installation package files to the temporary directory, and extract them.

   For the installation of CA RCM Server and Workpoint Server, you should end up with the following compressed files:

   • CA-RCM-12.5-sp2-Core.zip
   • CA-RCM-12.5-sp2-Installer.zip
   • CA-RCM-12.5-sp2-Open-Source.zip
   • CA-RCM-12.5-sp2-Workpoint.zip
   • (Windows) CA-RCM-12.5-sp2-Windows-JBOSS.zip
   • (AIX) CA-RCM-12.5-sp2-AIX Websphere.zip
   • CA-RCM-12.5-sp2-Language-Files.zip

   For the installation of Client Applications, you should end up with the following compressed files:

   • CA-RCM-12.5-sp2-Client-Tools-Open-Source.zip
   • (64-bit) CA-RCM-12.5-sp2-Client-Tools-x64.zip
   • (32-bit) CA-RCM-12.5-sp2-Client-Tools-x86.zip

   For the installation of the Data Connector for CA Identity Manager, you should end up with the following compressed file:

   • Identity-Manager-Components.zip
   • For the integration of Kettle Pentaho data mining software, you should end up with the following compressed file:
   • pdi-ce-3.2.0-stable.zip
3. Extract the following zip files to yield the installation programs:
   • Extract the CA-RCM-12.5-sp2-Installer.zip file to the current directory to yield the InstCARCM.exe installation program .

     Use this installation program to install the CA RCM server components.

   • Extract the client tools zip file to yield an msi installation program.Select the client tools package appropriate to the processor of the target computer, as follows:
     • For a 64-bit computer, extract CA-RCM-12.5-sp2-Client-Tools-x64.zip to create CA-RCM-12.5-sp2-Client-Tools-x64.msi
     • For a 32-bit computer, extract CA-RCM-12.5-sp2-Client-Tools-x86.zip to create CA-RCM-12.5-sp2-Client-Tools-x86.msi

     Use this installation program to install the CA RCM client applications.
