Compatibility with FDR

If you are installing the interface between CA PMO and the z/OS FDR (Fast Dump/Restore) batch utility, there are some compatibility issues you should consider:

  1. If you are using the FDRDSF, FDRCOPY, or FDRABR components of FDR, you must also install the FDR Data Set Security exit supplied by CA PMO. The Data Set Security Exit is used by CA PMO to monitor the data set update activity generated by the FDRDSF, FDRCOPY, and FDRABR components. When a data set has been restored, scratched, or moved, the exit informs CA PMO of the update so that CA PMO can take the appropriate action.
  2. If you are using the FDRCPK or FDR components, you must install the FDR Disk Volume OPEN Exit supplied by CA PMO. CA PMO uses this exit to determine when an FDRCPK COMPAKtion or FDR full volume restore is about to be performed. This exit is invoked prior to the volume update. As a result, CA PMO is unable to perform any immediate action. Instead, CA PMO issues the following highlighted warning message to the master console:
    PMO151I-VOLUME tttttttttt DETECTED
Issue F PMO,OFFLINE=vvvvvv when job jjjjjjjj nnnnnnnn
finishes; wait 15 seconds; then issue F PMO,ONLINE=vvvvvv

If you have an automated operations product (such as CA OPS/MVS) , you can have it issue the OFFLINE and ONLINE commands for you. If you need more information on message PMO151I, see the CA PMO Message Reference Guide.
