D6: Private Library Management Summary

The D6 display classifies directory searches of private libraries by the method CA PMO uses to manage those libraries. Also, for libraries that CA PMO tried to manage but could not, the D6 display provides reasons for the failures.

The following screen illustrates a sample D6 display:

Row Headings

The row headings on the D6 display are described in the following:

Private Library Searches

All directory searches of private libraries.

Managed Libraries

Directory searches of private libraries that CA PMO manages.

Manually Included

Libraries that you told CA PMO to manage, either with the INCLPRVT parameter or the F PMO,INCLPRVT command.

Auto Included

Libraries that CA PMO chose to manage.

Note: If you manually include a library for management, and the library is moved, CA PMO will briefly stop managing it and then start to manage it again. This is counted as an automatic inclusion, even though you originally included the library manually.

Candidate Libraries

Libraries that CA PMO is not currently managing that have had BLDL/FIND requests issued against them.

Eligible

Candidate libraries that CA PMO may include for management, if there is sufficient directory search activity against them. The D9 display shows the names of these libraries.

Ineligible

Candidate libraries that CA PMO cannot manage. The D9 display shows the names of these libraries and explains why they are ineligible.

Except for libraries that you exclude from management, CA PMO may classify a library as ineligible for only a short period. As a result, this row may show a zero (0) for the current number of ineligible libraries and a positive count for searches of these libraries. CA PMO changes its classification of an ineligible library when it becomes eligible for management again, when CA PMO actually starts to manage it, or if the library drops out of the candidate list due to a lack of directory search activity against it.

Excluded

Libraries that are excluded from CA PMO management because of one of the following reasons:

  • You specified them on the EXCLAUTO parameter.
  • They do not fit in your INCLAUTO parameter specifications.
  • You issued the F PMO,EXCLPRVT command for them.
NUMADDED Exceeded

Libraries that CA PMO tried to manage, but could not because there were no available entries and there were no libraries that it could stop managing.

If this category accounts for more than 1% of all searches, you may want to increase the size of the NUMADDED parameter.

Virt Stg Exhausted

Libracategory accouries that CA PMO tried to manage, but could not because there was insufficient virtual storage to build the hash tables.

If this nts for more than 1% of all searches, you may want to increase the maximum virtual storage size specified in the IEFUSI exit.

16M Hash Table Utilization

Hash table utilization in real-time. Both in use and available are displayed.

Column Headings

The column headings on the D6 display are described in the following:

Count

The number of searches of private library directories.

% Of Total

A breakdown of searches by category (such as the percent that were included for management automatically, the percent that were included manually, and so on).

PMO Resolved

The number of library directory searches that CA PMO resolved.

The total number of searches may be higher than the number of searches that CA PMO resolved. If this is the case, the extra ones may be I/O searches due to updates and concatenation problems. For libraries managed with the MLONLY option, the discrepancy may also be due to I/O searches that occurred because the member was not found in the managed list.

% PMO Resolved

The percentage of searches that CA PMO resolved. CA PMO calculates this by dividing the number of searches it resolved by the total number of searches.

Current # Libs

The number of libraries currently in each management category.

SMS Must-Cache

The number of library directories that are cached.

% SMS Must-Cache

The percentage of library directories that are cached.
