Step 7: Set Up the DFDSS Interface (Optional)

The DFDSS interface allows CA PMO to detect PDS updates by DFDSS. Specifically, the interface checks for any DFDSS RESTORE, COMPRESS, COPY, and DEFRAG updates.

Note: The DFDSS interface can determine only when a PDS has undergone a logical RESTORE update.

To enable the interface, follow these steps:

  1. Edit the INSTDFS2 member of the SAMP data set.

This job will apply a USERMOD to DFDSS through SMP/E. We recommend that you allow the job to RECEIVE and APPLY the USERMOD, but not ACCEPT it. This will allow you to perform a RESTORE procedure through SMP/E to remove the USERMOD.

The interface will not interfere with any other user exits applied to DFDSS.

  2. Specify DFDSS=YES in the CA PMO parameter data set to enable the interface.

Note: Specifying DFDSS=YES when the interface has not been installed will not adversely affect CA PMO or DFDSS.
