System Requirements

By default, the repositories are located on the primary server, and no extra configuration is required to upload file attachments. However, having the repository on a remote computer requires installing a secondary server with the rep_daemon running on the primary server. The system requirements for the server are as follows:

To set up a repository on a remote computer

  1. Open a command prompt and enter:

    cd $NX_ROOT/samples/pdmconf

  2. Run pdm_edit.pl.

You are asked two questions. Answer those questions to return to the main menu.

  3. Select 8 and press Enter to select Repository Daemon.
  4. Enter the name of the secondary server and press Enter.

Note: The name of the secondary server must match the NX_LOCAL_HOST on the secondary server.

    The main menu appears.

  5. Select X and press Enter to Save and Exit.

The saved file is the pdm_startup.rmt file. This file is a replacement for $NX_ROOT/pdmconf/pdm_startup.tpl.

  6. Rename your current pdmconf/pdm_startup.tpl file.
  7. Copy your new pdm_startup.rmt file to pdmconf/pdm_startup.tpl.
  8. Install a secondary server and start the proctor on the secondary server.

Note: For Windows NT systems, the proctor is a service and on Linux it is pdm_proctor_nxd.

  9. Start the primary server and use pdm_status to see if your new daemon appears.
  10. Change the Server Name and the Upload path to point to the remote computer where the repository daemon runs.

The remote computer is set up to upload file attachments.
