A repository represents a disk directory on a local or a remote computer. You can have one large repository or several small ones. How you decide to structure repositories is entirely up to your business practices and needs.
Moving or combining repositories is simple because all the attributes about a repository are defined in the repository record. Only the repository and the file name are associated with each ticket.
Files are uploaded to a repository and remain there. When a file is requested, one of the following actions occurs:
Example: Change the Directory Structure on a Web Server
This example shows how to change the directory structure on a web server.
Change the Upload Path in the repository record.
All existing attachments correctly point to the new location automatically.
