In some network environments, if you allow direct socket access to the application servers that are running the Support Automation server application, it can be considered a security risk. In these environments, you can use Socket Proxy within the DMZ to provide a middleman component between the internet users and the application servers. Using Socket Proxy in this scenario offloads some of the processing from the primary server.
