A CA Workflow process definition must have a string attribute named usd_persid that links with a change or issue category or request/incident/problem area. This attribute must be marked as an input parameter. When CA SDM starts the CA Workflow instance, it sets usd_persid to the unique identifier (persistent_id) of the ticket. One use of usd_persid is to make web service calls from CA Workflow to CA SDM.
Important! Change and issue categories can use either CA SDM's internal (classic) workflow system or the CA Workflow application; the two cannot be mixed. Request/incident/problem areas can use only the CA Workflow application. The internal classic workflow system is not supported for request, incident, or problem tickets.
To select a CA Workflow process definition
The Change Category List page appears.
The Change Category Detail page appears.
Note: If you continue this procedure and save the category, any CA SDM style workflow that is attached to the category is deleted.
A selection page appears lists the available CA Workflow process definitions.
The category is populated with the selection.
The category is updated with the selected process definition.
The process definition selection page appears.
Note: CA Workflow process definitions are displayed in the selection page only if the definition has a string attribute named usd_persid. When the definition is started, this attribute is set to the persistent_id value of the ticket. The CA Workflow process definition can optionally include a string input parameter named label. If a label is defined, CA SDM sets its value to the ticket number. The ticket number is displayed in the CA Workflow worklist and helps provide context for the workitem.
