Maintaining CA Network Flow Analysis › Service Management
Service Management
You can start or stop CA Network Flow Analysis services or check the status of a service in the Windows Services window.
The CA Network Flow Analysis services are described briefly in the following list. If the CA Network Flow Analysis components are installed on more than one server, the services run on each server as shown in the following list. If all the components are installed on a standalone system, all the services run on the standalone server.
- CA NFA Collection and Poller Webservices: Provides web service interfaces for the NFA console to communicate with the Harvester and Poller (Standalone and Harvester servers).
Linux Harvesters: NFA CollpollWS (nfa_collpollws)
- CA NFA Data Retention: Manages trimming to enforce the established limits for retaining data files according to volume and time length.
- 2-tier standalone or distributed deployment: Manages data trimming for 15-minute, 1-minute, and Flow Forensics data (Standalone and Harvester servers).
- 3-tier deployment: Manages data trimming for 1-minute and Flow Forensics data on DSA servers and for 15-minute data on Harvester servers (DSA servers).
Linux Harvesters: NFA Dataretention (nfa_dataretention)
- CA NFA DNS/SNMP Proxies: Handles SNMP and DNS requests from the Poller (All servers).
Linux Harvesters: NFA Proxies (nfa_proxies)
- CA NFA DSALoader: Processes 15-minute data into .RTR files for storage (3-tier architecture). Also converts .RTR files to .RTR15 files during migration to 2-tier architecture) (DSA servers).
- CA NFA File Server:
- 2-tier standalone or distributed deployment: Collects the EOV data files on the Harvester servers for the NFA console to retrieve (Standalone and Harvester servers).
- 3-tier deployment: Collects the EOV data files on the Harvester servers for the NFA console to retrieve and copies the historical data files to the NFA console server for each of the DSAs to retrieve (Harvester and NFA console servers).
Linux Harvesters: NFA Filewebservice (nfa_filewebservice)
- CA NFA Harvester: Runs the Harvester/collector process (Standalone and Harvester servers).
Linux Harvesters: NFA Harvester (nfa_harvester)
- CA Performance Center SSO: Runs the Single Sign-On authentication software, which enables users to navigate between CA Performance Center and CA Network Flow Analysis without signing in a second time.
- CA NFA Poller: Runs the poller, retrieves interface lists from the routers, and handles mapping for persistent interface IDs (Standalone and Harvester servers).
Linux Harvesters: NFA Poller (nfa_poller)
- CA NFA Pump Service: Moves the EOV and historical data files from the Harvester servers to the NFA console (DSA servers).
- CA NFA Reaper: Runs the Reaper process, which processes incoming flow and writes out files for 1-minute, 15-minute, and Enterprise Overview data (Harvester servers).
Linux Harvesters: CA NFA Reaper Service (nfa_reaper)
- CA NFA RibSource: Provides a static interface for CA Performance Center to get CA Network Flow Analysis data for CA Performance Center views and dashboards (Standalone and NFA console servers).
- NetQoS Mysql51: Runs the standard MySQL instance using port 3308 and stores MySQL configuration data (All servers).
- NetQoS NQMySql51: Runs the Custom Storage Engine, which stores files for 1-minute data, 15-minute data, and Flow Forensics data (All servers).
Linux Harvesters: My SQL CSE (nfa_mysqlCSE)
- NetQoS Reporter Manager Service: Manages processes to synchronize elements between the Harvester and NFA console databases--such as the SNMP profiles (Standalone and NFA console servers).
- NetQoS Reporter/Analyzer General Services: Handles several tasks, including licensing, detecting inactive interfaces, managing scheduled Custom and Analysis reports, and triggering traps (Standalone and NFA console servers).
- NetQoS Reporter/Analyzer Pump Service: Retrieves Enterprise Overview data from the Harvester (Standalone and NFA console servers).
- NetQoS Reporter/Analyzer Query Services: Provides interfaces to run on-the-fly Custom Reports and Analysis reports (Standalone and NFA console servers). Tasks include:
- Automatic Groups: Maintains system controlled groups and their memberships.
- DNS: Performs reverse DNS resolution to provide names for host IP addresses.
- Maintenance: Cull data, deploy settings to Harvester servers and other servers, and perform other tasks.
- NetQoS Reporter/Analyzer Report Service: Provides interfaces to run Flow Forensics reports and scheduled Custom Reports (Standalone and NFA console servers).
- NetQoS Reporter/Analyzer Watchdog: Polls components for status information (Standalone and NFA console servers).
