Add Custom IP Domains

IP domains are required for monitoring environments with overlapping IP addresses. Create custom IP domains in CA Performance Center so that Administrators can assign items in CA Network Flow Analysis to the domains.

Note: We highly recommend that you set up domains in CA Performance Center and assign them to your Harvesters in CA Network Flow Analysis before you add routers. When you enable routers, they inherit the domain of their parent Harvester. The domain assignment for routers is permanent. You can change the domain assignment for Harvesters, interfaces, and CVIs at any time, however.

The Default Domain is created automatically. The Default Domain includes any items that are not assigned to a custom domain.

Follow these steps:

  1. Log in as a user with the required administrative role rights.
  2. Navigate to the Manage IP Domains page.

The page displays the current list of IP domains.

  3. Click New.

The IP Domains Administration dialog opens.

  4. Supply information for the following parameters:
    Name

    Identifies the domain.

    Description

(Optional) Describes this domain namespace, such as naming the enterprise that owns it.

    Primary DNS Address

Is the IP address of the primary name server for this domain.

    Primary DNS Port

Is the port number that the primary name server uses.

    Secondary DNS Address

Is the IP address of the secondary name server for this domain. Can be the same as the primary address.

    Secondary DNS Port

Is the port number that the secondary name server uses.

  5. (Optional) Select 'Enable DNS Proxy Address,' and supply the IP address of the proxy server. This step is required only if your network is located behind a DNS proxy server.
  6. Click Save.

The new IP domain appears in the list.

  7. Repeat the steps as required to add more IP domains.
