4.4.3 Management Area Definition
The management area code is used primarily for reporting
purposes and provides a means to organize the exceptions. A
management area code is assigned to each exception and
associates the exception with the relevant area of
responsibility, for example, system availability. This code
assignment enables the exceptions to be analyzed by a CA MICS
information area or information area within management area.
The following list itemizes the management areas that are
currently defined and in use:
o Availability. This encompasses computing hardware
(e.g., CPU) or software subsystems (e.g., TSO)
reliability and availability.
o Performance. Computing hardware, operations,
supervisory software, or program product performance
are included in this category.
o Productivity. This area includes operational and
development personnel productivity.
o Security. This covers physical access, system
integrity, and data access security.
o Service. Online response times and batch turnarounds
are included in this area.
o Standards. The enforcement of installation-defined
standards, guidelines, and policies make up the area of
standards.
o Workload. This refers to user-submitted load and the
system effectiveness, performance, and operation.
