6.3.7 CA NetSpy and IBM TCP/IP SMF Data

CA NetSpy provides users the flexibility to log SMF data to
the record type of their choice. The record type can be any
number between between 128 to 255. Moreover, a different
record type could be selected for CA NetSpy running in
different Logical Partitions (LPARs).

IBM TCP/IP can be configured to generate SMF type 118 and 119
records. Your data center may be collecting both of these
record types from a single LPAR. At the same time one LPAR
can be generating SMF type 118 records while another can be
generating SMF type 119 records.

The administrator must determine all record types that are
logged to SMF by CA NetSpy and IBM TCP/IP. The administrator
then must configure CA MICS Network Analyzer to accept and
process them in DAY056 step of the DAILY job.

Refer to chapter 7 for details on how to configure all the
SMF record types in sharedprefix.MICS.GENLIB(SNTGENIN) and
prefix.MICS.PARMS(SNTOPS)
