6.2.4 CA NetMaster

CA NetMaster is an integrated network management software,
similar to NetView, that provides online network management
functions and produces information that can be used for
management reporting, performance analysis, capacity
planning, and network tuning.  CA NetMaster consists of a
group of program products.  The Network Tracking System (NTS)
and the Network Error Warning System (NEWS) provide
information that is used by the CA MICS Network Analyzer
Option.

The data provided to CA MICS by the CA NetMaster NTS and NEWS
products is equivalent to that provided by the respective
NetView Session Monitor/NLDM and NetView Hardware
Monitor/NPDA products.  Consequently, within the CA MICS
Network Analyzer Option, the NTS SMF type 39 data is written
to the CA MICS NLDM files and reports, and the NEWS SMF type
37 data is written to the CA MICS NPDA files and reports.

Both NTS and NEWS are required for effective collection of
Response Time Monitor (RTM) data.  NTS controls performance
class (CA NetMaster RTM class) definitions and records RTM
data in the SMF type 39 record.  NEWS provides periodic
collection of RTM data through an EVERY command.
