6.1.4.6 CA NetSpy General Alerts

CA NetSpy creates general alerts when measurements from
either CA NetSpy VTAM interface data or NCP interface data
fall outside user-defined thresholds. These alerts are
useful for identifying excessive response times, over or
under utilized resources, and congested virtual routes.

The CA NetSpy user may define these alert thresholds and
route them to SMF either through the "Define Monitors" option
on the CA NetSpy Main Menu, or by specifying MONITOR
statements in the CA NetSpy ALERTPRM member or file. The
latter method is recommended for on-going exception
monitoring, because MONITOR statements are executed each time
CA NetSpy is activated.

CA NetSpy writes general alerts to the CA NetSpy user-defined
SMF record with a subtype of X. These records are input into
the Network Incident File (SNTNIN) in CA MICS.
