3.2 User Maintenance Procedures
It is the user's responsibility to maintain the CA MICS
complex as installed at the user's site or sites. This can
be a complicated process due to the fact that there are many
individual modules in the typical CA MICS installation, many
libraries in which they reside, and thousands of lines of
code.
Maintenance of such a system would be impossible without
strict adherence to an organized maintenance scheme. The
scheme chosen for CA MICS employs complete change
documentation and the use of the standard IBM utility
IEBUPDTE. The reason for this strict approach is to ensure
that necessary maintenance can be applied quickly and
accurately. For unmodified CA MICS systems, only
vendor-supplied maintenance is involved. For modified
CA MICS complexes, the application of vendor-supplied
maintenance can become a very large task if modifications are
not properly developed.
