7.1.1 Common Transfer Parameters
When you specify option 1, Common Transfer Parameters, on the
Parameter Selection menu, the associated panel is displayed.
Figure 7-3a illustrates a sample Common Transfer Parameters
panel and the distributed default values. Enter the required
information. Each parameter is described below.

Enter the following parameters.
DATA TRANSMISSION PARAMETERS:
RSCS USERID the VM userid that initially receives the
NAME: transmission file. It runs the IBM Remote
Spooling and Communications Subsystem and
sends the file as a job to MVS for execution.
Any VM userid is valid.
JES NODE NAME: the destination system known by RSCS. If
this is specified incorrectly, RSCS either
rejects the transmission or sends it to the
wrong system. Contact your VM System
Administrator for the correct value to enter
in this field.
HOLD SPOOL the disposition of the spool file after the
FILES?: data has been successfully read. Valid
values are:
Y - Yes. Hold processed spool files for
manual purge.
N - No. Do not hold a processed spool file;
purge it if the transfer is successful.
Note: If any error occurs during data
reading, the spool file is held for manual
purge.
DATA SOURCE WAIT PARAMETERS:
WAIT FOR asks VMTWAITR whether or not to wait for a
AVAILABLE reader file if one is not immediately
SPOOL FILES?: available. Valid values are:
Y - Yes. If no reader file is available,
wait until the interrupt indicates the
presence of a file.
N - No. Do not wait for a file if one is
not immediately available.
WAIT FOR asks VMTWAITR whether or not to wait for
SPECIAL commands sent via CP Special Message Facility
MESSAGES?: (SMSG). Valid values are:
Y - Yes. Wait until the interrupt indicates
the presence of a CP SMSG command.
N - No. Do not wait for a CP SMSG command.
DISPLAY specifies whether or not to display terminal
RESPONSES?: messages. Valid values are:
Y - Yes. Display the terminal messages.
N - No. Suppress the terminal messages.
INPUT SPOOL restricts the files to be read to those whose
FILE CLASS: class is specified here. Valid values are
A-Z, 0-9, or *.
ALTERNATE specifies the userid of files that may be
ACCOUNT DATA coming from files belonging to a user other
USERID: than the CA MICS System Administrator. Use
this parameter only if Account data is
preprocessed by another virtual machine and
then forwarded to the VM Data Transfer
Program.
INPUT DISK assigns a one-character file mode letter to a
FILE MODE: sequential file when it is accessed by the VM
Data Transfer Program through automatic
transfer support. Valid values are A-Z or *.
The VM Data Transfer Program will assign an
unused file mode dynamically or will assign Z
if all file modes are being used when an
asterisk (*) is specified. The default value
is Z.
IN CASE OF the userid of the person who should receive
AN ERROR, messages from the VM Data Transfer Program if
NOTIFY: an error occurs. The default action, which
is an asterisk (*), displays messages at the
VM Data Transfer Program's console.
HELP: Use the VM Data Transfer Help Facility.
QUIT: Leave without saving.
REFRESH: Replace the data entry fields with the
last entries that were FILEd.
FILE: Save all displayed parameters and exit to the
previous panel.
DEFAULTS: Display the distributed default parameters.
ADDITIONAL PANEL FUNCTIONS
CREATE/EDIT Display the authorization table. Use this
AUTHORIZATION function only if you have specified Y for the
TABLE: WAIT FOR SPECIAL MESSAGES parameter. See
Section 7.1.1.1 for a description of this
panel.
SPECIFY PRINT/ Display the Print/Log File Control Parameters
LOG FILE panel. See Section 7.1.1.2 for a description
DISPOSITION: of this panel.
