The CA MICS Analyzer Option for VM/CMS helps you to manage VM
and CMS systems by processing information it collects from
multiple sources. CA MICS automatically integrates this
information with other information it maintains. This is
possible because it stores information in a format that is
common to all CA MICS products.
The CA MICS Analyzer Option for VM/CMS provides the
capability to interpret, consolidate, store, and report on VM
operating system management data gathered from the following
data sources:
o IBM z/VM Monitor
o IBM z/VM Account
o IBM Remote Spooling & Communications Subsystem (RSCS)
o IBM VM VTAM Communications Network Application (VCNA) and
VM SNA Communications Services (VSCS)
o CA VM:Account
o Velocity Software ESAMON and ESALPS Monitor Data
In this guide, unless otherwise specified, the term VM means
the ESA feature of VM, whichever is appropriate. z/VM is the
successor to VM/ESA.
The CA MICS Analyzer Option for VM/CMS tracks system problems
and can be used to perform an in-depth audit of users of
various VM and CMS facilities. In addition, it produces a
series of management and analysis reports that can be
tailored for all management levels. As one of the CA MICS
Data Integration Applications, it processes raw data for
analyzing and managing specific technologies.
