Step 4. Encrypt Local Databases

If you copy REGARC.NSF or REGCERT.NSF to a local workstation, be sure to encrypt them. By encrypting the files, unauthorized users cannot view the contents of fields, such as passwords and certifier IDs.

Follow these steps:

  1. Open the database using the Lotus Notes Client workstation.
  2. Select Database/Properties.

    The Database Properties dialog appears.

  3. Select Encryption settings.

    The Encryption dialog appears.

  4. Select the "Locally encrypt this database using option" check box.
  5. Select the Strong, Medium, or Simple Encryption option depending on the type of encryption you want.
  6. Click OK to close the Encryption dialog.
  7. Click OK to close the Database Properties dialog.
