Packager GUI Structure

The Packager GUI consists of the following main areas where you can find information about a PIF package or interact with the Packager to manage the PIF package.

Menu bar

Contains menus that provide functions to create or delete a PIF package (File menu), modify properties of the Packager (Edit menu), and access the Packager online help (Help menu).

File menu

Lets you choose the following functions:

  • New—Creates the prototype file for a new PIF package and adds a new entry to the product list in the project pane.
  • Import—Imports one or more existing PIF prototype files or an already built PIF package.
  • Save—Saves the prototype file in a product library.
  • Build—Generates the PIF package based on the settings in the prototype file.
  • Delete—Removes the PIF package from the Packager's package library.
  • Exit—Ends work with the Packager and closes the Packager program.

Sometimes, functions are available only if a package is selected. Functions that do not apply for a selected package, are dimmed out.

Edit menu

Lets you set or change properties of the Packager, such as editor used to create new files, log file specification, and automatically incrementing the build number or the revision number with each build.

Help menu

Provides online help and information, as follows:

  • Help topics—Opens the Packager's online help.
  • About—Provides information about the Packager version, end-user license agreement, and copyright. You can view the complete end-user license agreement by clicking the View the End-User License Agreement button.
