Set the Master Password

In a stand-alone environment, you can set a master password for any of the available security providers.

To set the master password

  1. Click the Properties button next to the Current Security Provider field in the Users tab in the DSM Properties - Remote Control dialog.

    The Provider Properties dialog appears.

  2. Click the Enable Master Password check box to enable the master password.

    The Set Master Password dialog appears.

  3. Enter a new password and confirm new password in the fields provided.

    Note: Passwords must be non-blank and cannot be less than six characters. You can combine letters, numbers, and characters used in punctuation.

  4. Click OK.

    The Set Master Password dialog confirms that the master password has been changed.

  5. Click OK.

    The Set Master Password dialog closes and you are returned to the Users tab of the DSM Properties - Remote Control dialog.
