Security in a Stand-Alone Environment

If you are running Remote Control in a stand-alone environment, you can choose one of the available security modes. Each of these security modes has distinct advantages:

The DSM Properties - Remote Control dialog has a Users tab that shows the list of users for the currently selected security provider. If the Remote Control Local Security mode is selected, the Users tab displays local users. These user names can be anything and are not related to Local user accounts. If the Unified Security mode is selected, the Users tab displays the names of locally defined users, domain users, or local and domain groups. Note that any account restrictions (for example, time periods in which you can log in) also apply to Remote Control, since it uses the same validation mechanisms.
