The SQL Web Connect feature works by tracking product usage across all CVs for a given LPAR. Two concurrent users of both CA IDMS SQL and CA IDMS Server ODBC/JDBC technology are permitted. When two simultaneous users of either IDMS SQL or ODBC/JDBC are registered, any subsequent attempt to use that technology will result in either a failure or an LMP warning, as dictated by the current RHDCPINT product bit setting as well as the presence of the appropriate LMP key. You can continue to use the RHDCPINT module to prevent unwanted product usage above the usage that is permitted by the SQL Web Connect feature.
On z/OS, usage is tracked using IBM’s Product Registration facility. Calls to the IBM Product Registration facility are handled using the LMP Seat License Registration Service within CA Common Services (CCS). The CA LMP Seat License Registration Service is a relatively new component within CCS. The CA Common Services releases that contain the Seat License Registration Service are:
No action is needed in order to activate the SQL Web Connect feature. Usage tracking automatically takes place when the following two conditions are fulfilled:
No LMP warnings occur for connections and sessions that are established under SQL Web Connect.
