Upgrade to r12.1 Requires iGateway Restart

Symptom:

In a federated environment, the upgrade from r12.0 to r12.1 does not complete without restarting iGateway.

Solution:

The upgrade binaries are copied and extracted but not installed by the subscription client: they remain as is in the "/tmp/downloads" directory. This indicates that the Subscription upgrade process is not complete. At this point you must restart igateway manually using the following process:

To restart the iGateway daemon or service

  1. Log in as the caelmadmin user for the CA Enterprise Log Manager server.
  2. Switch users to the root account with the following command:
    su -
    
  3. Stop the igateway process with the following command:
    $IGW_LOC/S99igateway stop
    
  4. Start the igateway process with the following command:
    $IGW_LOC/S99igateway start
    

This will allow the upgrade to be completed.
