Select the Target Model for a Derived Model

You use the features in the Target Model dialog select basic options for the derived model.

To select the target model for a derived model

  1. Click Design Layers, Derive New Model on the Actions menu.

    The Derive Model wizard opens on the Target Model pane.

  2. Work with the following options:
    New Model Type

    Specifies the type of model you want to derive: Logical, Physical, or Logical/Physical

    Create Using Template

    Specifies the template on which to base your new model. Click Browse File System or Browse Mart to search for an existing template, or skip this option and use the default blank model.

    Target Database Database/Version

    Specifies the target database and version for the derived model.

  3. Click Next.

    The Type Selection pane opens.

Note: You can click the Derive button at any time to start the derive process.
