Differences must be reconciled when two users make changes to the same model, and attempt to save them back into the mart or after you have selected two models to compare and narrowed your compare criteria by applying any of the available filters. These changes are considered to be in conflict and must be resolved before the model can be saved—every difference must be accounted for. The independent changes need to be combined to create a final version of the model that is placed in the mart.
Compare the model in the left pane (the current model that you are checking in to the mart) with the model in the right pane (the mart version) and reconcile the differences. You can view the differences on the object level, or more detailed property level. You can search the text of the comparison lists, and you can generate a report of the differences.
A difference is reconciled by moving it from the left model or the right model using the left and right arrows. You need to make these models converge until there are no more differences.
When you save a model to the mart and differences with the current model and the model in the mart are detected, the Difference Reconciliation dialog displays to let you reconcile all differences.
To reconcile model differences
When conflicts with the current model in the mart are detected, the Difference Reconciliation dialog opens.
Use the tools on the Difference Reconciliation toolbar to reconcile the differences:
Automatically merge the non-conflicting changes.
Move the changes in the right model (mart version) to the left (current) model.
Move the changes in the left (current) model to the right model (mart version).
The model differences are saved to the mart.
Note: The model is locked while saving the changes to the mart.
