You can create or modify subject areas, and tables as members of subject areas using the Model Explorer. When you include an object as a member of a subject area, rather than creating a copy of an object, you are including a pointer to the original object. Any changes you make to the original object are made to the members as well; and, any changes you make to the members are made to the original object as well. For example, if your model includes an Accounting subject area and you create a Production subject area, you can include members from the Accounting subject area.
If the default action is not to include the object as a member of a subject area, you can manually override the default to include the object as a member.
To include a table as a member of a subject area
The subject areas display.
The table is now a member of both subject areas.
Note: If you drag a table without pressing the Ctrl key, the table will be deleted from the source subject area and moved to the destination subject area.
