Define the Default Null Option for New Columns

You can define a default null option for new columns added to your model when you select the target server.

Note: Before you begin this procedure, ensure you are working in a physical model.

To define the default null option for new columns

  1. Click Target Database on the Actions menu in the physical model.

    The ERwin Data Modeler - Target Server dialog opens.

  2. Make a selection from one of the following options in the Default Non-Key Null Option or Null Option box:

    Note: The selections vary depending on the target server you choose.

    NOT NULL

    Specifies the NOT NULL option for all new columns created in the model. This option is available for all target databases.

    NULL

    Specifies the NULL option for all new columns created in the model. This option is only available if your target database is MySQL, Oracle, Sybase, or SQL Server.

  3. Click OK.

    The default null option for new columns for your target server is defined and the CA ERwin Data Modeler - Target Server dialog closes.
