If you have an external text file with words that you want to add to a custom dictionary, you can use the Import option on the Spelling Dictionaries dialog to import the words. You can then work with the other options in the dialog to associate a spell check action with the word. You can also export a list of words to an external text file, modify the text file offline, and then import the word list again to the dictionary.
The Check Spelling dialog opens.
The Spelling Dictionaries dialog opens.
The file should be formatted with one word per line followed by a paragraph. The word list is imported in alphabetic order to the Words list.
You are prompted to save the text file. The words are exported to the file in alphabetical order, one word per line. The text file has two columns, the first column has the dictionary, word and the second has conventions about whether to ignore the word (represented by i) or to replace it with another word (represented by a).
