Model Naming Options

You use the Model Naming Options dialog to specify how logical and physical model objects are named. The logical and physical model objects for which you can set name mapping preferences display. When two objects appear in the box, you set the name mapping preferences from the first object to the second object. For example, for Entity to Table, you set preferences for deriving a table name from an entity name. Domains, relationships, and validations are considered the same object in both the logical and physical model, so only one object appears in the box. The preferences that you set for naming the physical model object names must conform to the syntax rules of the target database. Refer to your vendor's SQL Reference Guide for more information.

The Model Naming Options dialog includes the following tabs:

General

Attach, edit, or detach a naming standards file (*.nsm).

Logical

Set naming preferences for logical model objects.

Physical

Set naming preferences for physical model objects.

Name Mapping

Specify options for deriving a physical model object name from a logical model object name.

Duplicate Names

Set preferences to enforce unique names for entities, tables, views, attributes, and columns.

To open the Model Naming Options dialog, click Model Naming Options on the Actions menu.
