Convert Names Using Naming Standard Abbreviations

You can use a glossary of words and abbreviations to derive the physical model object name. Select abbreviation from the list to specify to use an abbreviation from the glossary to derive the physical model object name. This is only available when you select the Use Glossary option.

To convert names using naming standard abbreviations

  1. Click Model Naming Options on the Actions menu of a physical model.

    The Model Naming Options dialog opens.

  2. Click the General tab.

    The General tab opens.

  3. Select the Use File option to specify the naming standards file that contains the naming standard abbreviations you need, then click the Name Mapping tab.

    Note: If you need to define parts of logical and physical names or build or edit a glossary of words, abbreviations, and alternate abbreviations, you can click the Edit button to open the Naming Standards Editor to perform these actions.

    The Name Mapping tab opens.

  4. Select the Use Glossary check box for a model object type, click a cell in the Abbreviation Type column, select Abbreviation from the drop-down list, and click OK.

    The names are converted using the naming standards abbreviations and the Model Naming Options dialog closes.
