Skip this step if you are upgrading CA Dispatch.
CA IDMS requires journals for the recovery process. Usually, the current files on disk are sufficient to recover automatically. However, if they are not, these backups provide the ability to roll forward or backward to the extent of the tapes and time period maintained.
The JCL supplied with CA Dispatch assumes the use of generation data sets.
Edit CADSOPTN member DSGDG. Be sure that the correct library name is used, as well as the number of generations. The default generation limit in DSGDG for journal offloads may be too low for your site and must be changed to match your requirements or you will be deleting required generation tapes.
Execute CADSJCL member DSINGDG, which contains the JCL to build a generation index for journal backup data sets using the IDCAMS utility.
