Apply Maintenance

CA Support Online may have maintenance and HOLDDATA that have been published since the installation data was created. When the maintenance process is complete the product is ready to deploy.

To apply maintenance
  1. Check CA Support Online and download any PTFs and HOLDDATA published since this release was created. If the base release was created recently, you may find that no PTFs or holddata have been published yet.
  2. Transfer the downloaded files to two separate FB 80 sequential data sets. Use one data set to contain the PTFs and the other to contain the HOLDDATA.

The PTFs and HOLDDATA become accessible to the SAMPJCL maintenance members.

  3. The ADSSEDIT macro was customized in the installation steps. Verify that you still have the values from the base install.
  4. Open the SAMPJCL member ADS6RECP in an edit session and execute the ADSSEDIT macro from the command line.

ADS6RECP is customized with your JOB statement, CSI location, and zone names.

  5. Customize the ADS6RECP SMPPTFIN and SMPHOLD DD statements to reference the FB 80 data sets for the PTFs and HOLDDATA.
  6. Submit ADS6RECP.

The PTFs and HOLDDATA are received.

  7. Open the SAMPJCL member ADS7APYP in an edit session and execute the ADSSEDIT macro from the command line.

    ADS7APYP is customized.

  8. Submit ADS7APYP.

    The PTFs are applied.

  9. (Optional) Open the SAMPJCL member ADS8ACCP in an edit session and execute the ADSSEDIT macro from the command line.

    ADS8ACCP is customized.

  10. (Optional) Submit SAMPJCL member ADS8ACCP.

    The PTFs are accepted.

Note: You do not have to submit the job at this time. You can accept the PTFs according to your site's policy.

Important: Be aware that the currently active CADSLOAD contains site specific load modules. These load modules were created during the initial product installation or subsequent product configuration. Directly copying over, or replacing, the currently active CADSLOAD with your SMP target CADSLOAD will back level these site specific load modules and result in undesired product behavior and or product failure. The following is a list of possible site specific load modules.

    1. Database size dependent load modules

You must modify and execute member DSINCOPY to copy all database size dependent load modules from the currently active CADSLOAD to your new CADSLOAD.

    2. CA Dispatch SVC

If you customized and submitted member DSINSVC or ADSJSVC in CAI.CADSJCL to update the CA Dispatch SVC routine with a new SVC number or CVKEY, you must copy load module CADSSVC from the currently active CADSLOAD to your new CADSLOAD.

    5. CA 7 Scheduling Interface load module

If you customized and submitted CADSJCL member DSINEX08 or ADSJEX08 to build, assemble and link the CA 7 Scheduling Interface, you must copy load module CADSCA7U from the currently active CADSLOAD to your new CADSLOAD.

    6. CA ENF Event Collection Option load module

If you customized and submitted CADSJCL member DSINEXSX or ADSJSTAX to customize the CAIENF events being processed by the STATUS task of CA Dispatch, you must copy load module RDFGSTAX from the currently active CADSLOAD to your new CADSLOAD.

    7. User Exit load modules

If you customized and submitted CADSJCL members DSINEX01 or ADSJEX01, DSINEX02 or ADSJEX02, DSINEX03 or ADSJEX03, DSINEX04 or ADSJEX04, DSINEX06 or ADSJEX06 to customize any of the CA Dispatch user exit programs, you must copy the following load modules from the currently active CADSLOAD to your new CADSLOAD.

      • RDFGEX01 - BUNDLE START, SEPARATOR PAGE EXIT
      • RDFGEX02 - EMBEDDED DJDE EXIT
      • EDFGEX03 - BUNDLE END, SEPARATOR PAGE EXIT
