Step 2. Install and Initialize the Databases

This step is for new installations of CA Dispatch only.

Skip this step if you are upgrading from a previous release of CA Dispatch.

CADSJCL member DSEXDBIN contains the database install and initialization JCL. The following occurs:

Edit and customize the JCL, including all symbolics.

Select one of five sizes (1, 2, 3, 4, or 5) for the CA Dispatch Archive/Online Viewing and Report Distribution systems. Also select the size for your CA Dispatch IDMS Journal files (1, 2, or 3).

Note: The archive and distribution systems may be different sizes. CA has found that Size 2 for both archive and distribution systems works well for most users. For more information., see the CA Dispatch Systems Programmer Guide. Use the chart in the worksheet in Step 4 as a guide in making your choices. Carefully evaluate your needs. Once the system is installed, moving from one size to another is a time consuming process.

Submit the job and review the output.

If this job completes with a return code higher than 8, follow the directions included in the JCL.

Ensure that all steps except SCHEMA and SUBSCHM complete with a return code of 0. Step SCHEMA will end with a return code of 8. Step SUBSCHM will complete with a return code of 4.

For any other non-zero return codes, follow the recovery directions in the JCL.
