Append LDS Files

The CADDSPL appended LDS files are used to store the actual report and MSGCLASS data. Data compression is performed upon all user report data. Therefore, the actual DASD space utilized by any given report is dependent upon the amount of compression that can be performed on the data.

Each individual appended LDS file is limited to a 2 GB maximum size. The maximum number of appended LDS files that can be appended to a Root LDS file is 75.

During the Allocate LDS Files and Configure CADDSPL Processing Options step of the installation, the DDEXLDSI job defaults to allocating the Root LDS file and two appended LDS files.

Be aware of the following:

• If you determine that additional appended LDS files are required during the initial installation, or are deemed necessary in the future, the DDEXLDSA job can be used to allocate and initialize appended LDS files as needed.
• If you determine that an appended LDS file is no longer required after the initial installation, you can optionally delete it from the Root LDS.
