Reason:
While processing a catalog management request, CADisk detected an error corresponding to the IBM message IDC3009I. CADisk stores a list of common catalog management return codes. If the error code in the text is found in the CADisk table, subsequent message lines will explain the error in greater detail.
Action:
For return code 50, reason code 18, see sysparm VSNOSCROn in the Systems Guide.
For reason code 212: Typically this condition code is encountered only when moving a VSAM data set to a different device type, and the control interval size specified (either the values with which the cluster was archived or those entered through the CISZ=, DCISZ= or ICISZ= parameters of the RESTORE command) is too small for the control area being generated on the new device type. The new device can hold more data control intervals per control area than the original device. Since each index control interval has to be large enough to hold pointers to every data control interval in its control area, the definition is failed by catalog management to prevent under-utilization of the data area.
You can circumvent this problem by any of these means:
To change the control interval size, restore the data set explicitly with one of the CISZ= parameters, or specify sysparm VSATTRIBY to let the system generate new control interval sizes (exit VSATTREX is also available to allow changes from a user exit).
Note: If the VSAM data set is an IMS, CICS or DB2 data base, it may not be possible to change the cluster's control interval size, since this value is coded in the DBDGEN for the data base and also affects the space required to allocate to data buffers. In this case the only alternative is to decrease the control area size by changing the space allocation for the cluster. For a discussion on how to influence control area sizes, see the IBM MVS/370 VSAM User's Guide, chapter titled "VSAM Performance Considerations", under Control Area Size.
For return code 138, the CADisk CA Allocate interface (documented and distributed separately) has detected an error. Consult additional messages issued by CA Allocate.
Note: As part of CA Allocate installation, it is possible to change the return code set from 138 to some other value. Check your installation of CA Allocate to determine what value is set.
