Omit Folders in Individual Filters
You can omit specific folders from processing in individual filters.
For example, omitting a folder from a filter means that you can include all *.dot files, except the files in a specific directory, such as the \Microsoft Office\Templates directory. In this case, your migration does not overwrite standard templates that are shipped with Office. Or omit the My Documents directory from the processing of individual filters if you are going to redirect the filter results to the My Documents directory on the new computer. This ensures that there are no duplicate file issues when you apply the file to the new computer. If you want to process filters in this manner, select the My Documents folder for migration on the Select Files and Folders page to ensure that the contents of the My Documents directory are also migrated.
For example:
Create a filter that finds all .doc, .xls, and .ppt files that are located in the local hard drive, but omits My Documents from the filter process.
Follow these steps:
*.doc;*.xls;*.ppt
The extensions appear in the drop-down list.
Note: Alternatively, you can also click Choose to select the required file extensions from a list of valid extensions.
Note: The Omit all subfolders check box is selected by default. If you only want to omit the root of the selected directory, clear the Omit all subfolders check box.
The filter reads “*.doc;*.xls;*.ppt in the root of local drive and subfolders with omitted folders”.
Note: To view the files included in the filter, click Find Files. A list of the files CA DMM includes in the migration that appear in a table at the bottom of the dialog. If you want to use this feature in DMM Template Editor, you must have DMM Template Editor that is installed locally to click Find Files.
