How to Create the Recoverable DNA (or SE) File

The steps for creating the recoverable DNA (or SE) file are similar to those for non-recoverable DNA (or SE) file except the following additional tasks that you need to perform:

  1. Generate the Public/Private key pair by using the Key Generator tool.
  2. Enable the encryption key recovery option and provide the location of the public key file in DMM Options Editor.

After completing these additional tasks, follow the same steps as you would for creating any non-recoverable DNA (or SE) file. You can use the encryption key recovery command on this file whenever you want to retrieve the password.

Note: If you want to use the command line to create a recoverable DNA (or SE) file, you must use the /puk argument to provide the public key path. In this case, you do not need to enable the encryption key recovery options in the Options file. For example, by using the following command, you can provide the public key path:

DesktopDNA /d[or /se] <dna or SE file path> /t <template path > /puk <pkey path>
