Log Options Dialog

Log files contain information that you can use to perform a variety of tasks from undoing a migration to debugging a migration. The Log Options dialog lets you create various log files, specify where each log file is saved, specify what each log file is named, and set the amount of detail contained in each log file.

The following options appear on the dialog:

Default Undo Path

Displays the default folder where the undo file is created. The default location is C:\My Documents.

Undo File

Creates an Undo Log that you use to return the Destination system to the condition it was in before the migration associated with the undo log file.

Append Date-Time Stamp

Specifies that the current date and time is appended to the name of the file.

Create Self-Extracting Undo File

Specifies that an undo file is created during every migration.

Append Date-Time Stamp

Specifies that the current date and time is appended to the name of the file.

Level

Specifies the amount of detail desired in the log as follows:

  • Error--Designates any errors that prevent successful migration.
  • Warning--Provides information about any event that might require the user to take action, but did not prevent a successful migration.
  • Information--Contains information about an event that is useful information for the user to have, but does not constitute an error or a warning.

Advanced

Lets you enable and specify details about the network and debug logs.

You can sort the messages on screen into distinct categories from Error to Information to easily identify events that must be addressed.

The printed and saved log contains header information including the name of the log, level of detail, a data/time stamp, source system, destination system, and the template or DNA file name.
