Advanced Log Options

The Advanced Log Options dialog lets you define the creation of two logs that document migrations. These can be uniquely named using variables.

Default Log Path

Displays the default location for log files, C:\My Documents\Logs.

Network Log

Creates a network log file when checked. Creating a Network Log helps you determine the cause of network problems. CA Technologies Technical Support might require you to supply a network log if you request assistance for a network migration. You can adjust the amount of detail saved in the file using the Level drop-down.

Level

Specifies the amount of detail you want to appear in the network log.

  • Error--Designates any errors that prevent successful migration
  • Warning--Provides information about any event that may require the user to take action, but did not prevent a successful migration
  • Information--Contains information about an event that will be useful information for the user, but does not constitute an error or a warning
Location

Lets you modify the default location and the constant portion of the file name.

Browse

Lets you specify a different location in which to create the file.

Debug Log

When checked, creates a debug log file. Creating a Debug Log helps CA Technologies Technical Support determine the cause of recurring migration problems.

Level

Specifies the amount of detail desired in the log as follows:

  • Error--Designates any errors that prevent successful migration.
  • Warning--Provides information about any event that might require the user to take action, but did not prevent a successful migration.
  • Information--Contains information about an event that is useful information for the user to have, but does not constitute an error or a warning.
