Redirect Users

You can redirect the settings of a user to be migrated to another user.

To redirect the users

  1. Open a template file that contains user selections, or create a template file with user selections.
  2. Click Settings, Users, and then click Add User on the Selection tab.

Note: You can add NT domain or Active Directory users, local, special, or unlisted users for migration.

  3. Select the users that you want to migrate by clicking the check box to the left of the user name.

Note: You can enter wildcards in the Unlisted users tab in Template Editor. You can use mixed wildcards (for example, *\M?ch*) for users that are identified for the source.

  4. Click the Redirection tab.

The selected users appear in the tree.

  5. Double-click the destination column of the domain or Active Directory container branch of the tree.
  6. Enter the destination domain or Active Directory container name. Click the Populate Destinations button to automatically redirect (or map) the network users from the source domain to the destination domain.

Note: The two domains must be accessible from the computer on which you are creating a template. Additionally, these two domains must also have a trust relationship for this functionality to work.

All users under the specific user tree branch are relocated to the new domain name or Active Directory container on the destination, unless the user is redirected to a different domain or Active Directory container. Redirect all the users in a specific domain or Active Directory container,

    follow these steps:

    1. Double-click the users Destination column.

A Destination dialog appears. You can enter a different domain or Active Directory container, and a new user name. Use the following format:

<NT Domain name or Active Directory container name>\<User Name>.

Note: The users that are identified for the destination cannot use mixed wildcards, but must use the * wildcard to replace an entire string. For example, the syntax is: <domain or Active Directory>\*, or *\<User Name>.
