Create a Self-Extracting DNA File

To create a self-extracting DNA file, follow these steps:

  1. Open CA DMM from the Start menu.

The Welcome to CA DMM page appears.

  2. Click Next.

The Select a DMM Task page appears.

  3. Click Create.

The Open a Template File appears.

  4. Select the template you created, Redirection Example, from the list, and click Next.

Your template loads and the Select System Settings page appears.

  5. Click the Destination tab at the top of the user interface. (You have already defined what will be migrated in the template.)

    The DNA Destination page appears.

  6. Click Next.

The Save DNA File page appears.

  7. Enter C:\RedirectionExample.exe in the DNA file name field. (Exchange C:\ with the letter for your hard drive if necessary.)

Note: The title and description displays the information you entered into the template.

  8. Click Advanced.
  9. The Advanced Settings dialog appears.
  10. Make the following selections:
    1. Check the Self-Extracting check box, to enable the fields in the Self-extracting group.
    2. Check the Apply with template check box, and enter the path to the template you created or click Browse to locate it.

For this example it is located in the My Documents folder named Redirection Example.dtf.

Note: You can use the template you are using to create the DNA file, or you can select a different template. It is usually most efficient when performing redirection to use the template used to create the DNA file.

    3. Click OK.

You are returned to the Save a DNA File page.

  11. Click Next.

    The Migrate DNA page appears.

  12. Click Next.

The Waiting to Migrate page appears.

  13. Click Start Migration.

CA DMM creates the self-extracting DNA file and saves it to your hard drive.

    The Migration Complete page appears.
