Migration Types

The type of migration you choose determines how the data gets transferred from the old computer to the new computer.

CA DMM supports two types of migration, deferred or real-time:

Deferred Migrations

Creates a DNA file from the source computer, which is later applied to a destination machine.

Real-time Migrations

Takes place over the network or a direct connection without creating a DNA file. The DNA file is moved directly to a different computer.

There are two methods to perform a real-time migration:
