If you are using SQL to access data, restoring the Directory from a current backup without restoring the DATA-DICT and Data Definition Directory (DDD) databases from backups taken at the same time can result in loss of synchronization which is critical for SQL operations.
If you are using CA Ideal, restore the Virtual Library System files from a backup that was taken at the same time as the backup of the Directory to assure synchronization. See the CA Ideal documentation for details.
To retain synchronization, when restoring the Directory, perform forward recovery.
