How to Deploy the CCS

You can deploy the CCS web service on a single web server, or you can deploy it across multiple web servers for load-balancing purposes. In a multiple web server deployment, all CCS servers share a single classification cache and a single SQL Server database.

Deploying the CCS involves the following steps. These steps are described in detail in the following sections.

  1. (Optional) Install CA Directory.

You must install CA Directory if you want to use a classification cache. CA Directory is a distributed directory for online applications. The CCS uses CA Directory to host the classification cache.

If you do not want to use a classification cache, skip to step 5.

  2. (Optional) Create the classification cache.

The classification cache is implemented as a CA Directory Service Agent (DSA).

  3. (Optional) Reset the default password for the ccsUser account.

The classification cache uses the CCS schema, which includes a default user account, ccsUser. If you want the CCS web service to connect to the classification cache as ccsUser, we recommend that you change the default password for this user account.

  4. (Optional) Configure security for the CCS web service.

We recommend that you configure the CCS so that calling applications must use SSL to connect to the CCS web service.

  5. (Optional) Configure security for the classification cache.

If required, you can enable an SSL connection between the CCS servers and the classification cache.

  6. Prepare the CCS servers.

Before installing your CCS servers, verify that the correct features and roles are installed.

  7. Install the CCS servers.
  8. (Optional) Install the CCS preclassification agent.
  9. (Optional) Reconfigure connections to the classification cache.
  10. (Optional) Manage the classification cache. For example, you can purge classification entries from the cache.
  11. (Optional) Customize the default classifications. Use the iConsole to customize the predefined classifications to suit the needs of your organization.
