Other New Features

The following new features have also been added to CA DataMinder since r12.0.

iConsole Standard Policies Included in Installation Wizard

The new installation wizard (see above) allows you to install the iConsole Standard Policies. Previously, these were only available when you installed CA DataMinder FastStart.

The iConsole standard policies compromise a predefined set of policies drawn from the CA Foundation Policy Pack (FPP). You can customize these standard policies in the iConsole to quickly roll out CA DataMinder across your organization.

Integration with Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2010

The CA DataMinder Exchange server agent now integrates with Exchange Server 2010.

Likewise, the CA DataMinder Outlook endpoint agent now integrates with Outlook 2010.

Support for Microsoft Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010

CA DataMinder agents can now analyze Microsoft Office 2010 documents.

The CA DataMinder File Scanning Agent can now scan SharePoint 2010 sites.

Support for Oracle 11g

CA DataMinder servers now support Oracle 11g database engines.

Important! Oracle 11g passwords expire after a default period of 180 days. To prevent the CMS being suspended unexpectedly, we therefore recommend that you set password expiry to UNLIMITED for your CA DataMinder Oracle user accounts.

Windows 64-bit Support

CA DataMinder machines now support 64-bit versions of Windows Server 2003 and 2008, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Extended integration with EMC SourceOne

CA DataMinder can now integrate with EMC SourceOne archives for Domino emails and internet emails.

SourceOne and Domino

CA DataMinder can now integrate with EMC SourceOne for Domino. SourceOne extracts Domino emails and passes them to CA DataMinder for policy processing. When processing is complete, CA DataMinder returns the Domino emails plus any resulting smart tags to SourceOne for storage in the archive.

SourceOne and Internet emails

CA DataMinder can now integrate with EMC SourceOne when it is being used to archive internet emails extracted from a drop folder.

Note: Internet e-mails are stored as EML files and conform to RFC 2822. They are commonly referred to as internet emails, based on the name of the RFC document, ‘Internet Message Format’, that describes them.

CA DataMinder Network Support for Bivio 7000 Appliances

CA DataMinder Network can now run on Bivio 7000 appliances. The CA DataMinder Network console has also been redesigned on Bivio 7000 appliances.

Group-based Retention Period

User policies now include user-level minimum retention periods for captured events. By implication, this also allows you to set retention periods for each user group. This provides an additional level of flexibility, complementing existing support for trigger-level and machine-level minimum retention periods.

The minimum retention period determines how long an event is retained on the CMS. When the retention period expires, the event becomes eligible for purging from the CMS database.

Existing CMS Properties Can Be Retained When Importing CMS Profiles

CA DataMinder now provides the ability to optionally retain existing CMS properties when importing a CMS profile. This ability is provided by a new overwritevalues attribute in the XML file containing the CMS profile.

Previously, an existing property on the CMS was automatically overwritten if the imported CMS profile contained the same property set to a different value.

Policy Guide

This is an important new CA DataMinder guide that provides policy administrators users with an overview of user policies, plus instructions and best practice guidelines for editing policies. The guide also includes details and examples to help write data lookup commands and set up document classifications.
