Events in the data warehouse that are associated only with an email address are not retrospectively updated when that email address gets linked to a CA DLP user account.
Because CA DLP agents run continuously, CA DLP can capture events associated with a new hire before a CA DLP account has been created for them. When these events are stored in the CMS database, CA DLP is unable to associate them with a CA DLP user account. Instead, the event participant details only identify the email address.
If you later create a CA DLP account for the new hire and update the account details with their email address, any events in the CMS database associated with that address get associated automatically and retrospectively with the new hire's CA DLP account. These event changes are reflected when you next run an event search. For example, if the new hire was added to the Sales group in the CA DLP user hierarchy, any iConsole search for Sales email activity now returns all emails sent by the new hire, including any emails sent before their CA DLP account was created.
However, unlike events in the CMS database, events in the data warehouse are not automatically updated. If emails sent by the new hire are copied to the data warehouse before a CA DLP user account has been created, participant details for these email events are not retrospectively associated with the CA DLP account for the new hire when that account finally gets created. For example, if you run a BusinessObjects report for CA DLP that focuses on the Sales group, the report results do not change to reflect the belated addition of the new hire to the Sales group.
To prevent such problems occurring, we strongly recommend that you keep your email user accounts and CA DLP user accounts synchronized. In particular, when a new hire joins your organization, create a CA DLP account for them as soon as possible. Typically, you must schedule Account Import jobs to import user details (including email addresses) into CA DLP at regular intervals from an external LDAP directory or a source file. For further details, see the 'Account Import' chapter in the Platform Deployment Guide.
Note: This problem only affects dashboards and reports generated from the data warehouse, including the BusinessObjects reports for CA DLP.
