Before running an import operation to import emails directly from an Exchange server or emails in .MSG or .PST files, note the requirements for each Event Import host machine:
The Event Import target machine must have a Microsoft Exchange-compatible email application installed, such as Outlook 2003. This must be the default email application on that machine.
Important! You cannot use an Exchange Server Management Pack instead of Outlook on the target server! You must use Outlook as your MAPI client, and this must be a 32-bit version. You cannot use 64-bit Outlook to import .MSG or .PST files.
To import .MSG message files saved in Microsoft Outlook 2003, you must have Microsoft Outlook 2003 installed. If an earlier version of Outlook is installed, the import operation will fail.
If you are using Microsoft Outlook 2003 or above, you can create two types of .PST archive file, a ‘Personal Folders file’, or a ‘Personal Folders file (97-2002)’. The ‘Personal Folders file’ is not compatible with earlier versions of Microsoft Outlook. To import a ‘Personal Folders file’ into CA DLP, you must have Microsoft Outlook 2003 or above installed. If you have an earlier version of Outlook installed, the import operation will fail.
