About the Digital Safe Adapter

The CA DLP Digital Safe Adapter (wgnzds.dll) provides an interface between the CA Universal Adapter (UA) or Remote Data Manager (RDM) and a Digital Safe archive. It has dual roles: enabling event ingestion and event retrieval.

• Event ingestion: The UA extracts e‑mails from specified Exchange mailboxes and passes them to the Digital Safe Adapter. In turn, the Digital Safe Adapter outputs these emails to a digital archive and then sends event and archive identifiers back to the UA.

  After confirmation that an email has been successfully archived, the UA outputs a copy of the email to an EVF file. This file includes the metadata (event and archive identifiers) that allows the RDM to retrieve the archived emails during subsequent event searches.

• Event retrieval: When a reviewer runs an event search in the iConsole or Data Management console, the RDM submits a request for any archived emails to the Digital Safe Adapter. The Digital Safe Adapter translates this request into a Web service request that can be processed by the Digital Safe retrieval service. Finally, the Digital Safe Adapter reformats the data sent back from the archive into EVF files and passes them back to the RDM.
