Generic File Protection

CA ControlMinder supports both logical and absolute file names. The absolute file name format is also supported for CA ControlMinder generic file protection.

Generic file protection lets you protect all the files that fit a specified wildcard pattern (regular expression). Any resource with a name matching the specified wildcard pattern is protected by the specified generic access rule. CA ControlMinder lets you protect files generically.

Should a resource match more than one generic access rule, CA ControlMinder chooses the rule that most closely matches the file.

With generic file protection, no more than a handful of security rules must be defined to protect many of the files requiring protection.
