A scan is a collection of related events and other scans. It is the mechanism used to associate a set of events with a particular serviced system. You will need to detect many events on a particular system. In order to assign a set of events to a serviced system, you need to group these events into scans. This enables the same group of events (that is, the scan) to be used on many different systems.
You need to define scans and their associated events in the configuration database. See Chapter 11, “Setting Up the ENS Components,” for more information about how to do this.
